New Donaldson Building Complete In All Details

In the new L. S. Donaldson building, Minneapolis will have added to her group of modern business structures one not only entirely creditable to the city—a handsome, substantial and complete store and office building—but one which, in many respects, will have no equal in the Twin Cities. The plans and specifications strength in a remarkable degree. Mr. Donaldson. in his desire to erect a perfect building, has issued carte blanche to architects and contractors alike, to spare no expense. but to incorporate every modern device, appliance, material and method which has proven by actual experience and crucial test to be the best.

Appearance of the Building

The building covers a piece a piece ground, 44 feet on Nicollet avenue, by 127 feet on Seventh street south. It rises eleven stories from the sidewalk, with a commodious basement below the street level. The first two stories are to be a peculiar and pleasing Shade of green enameled terra cotta. highly ornamented and in itself a Striking innovation, made at Terra Cotta, Illinois, for, use In this building. The remaining nine stories will be of pilasters and wainscoting about fourteen feet high. from the top of which Will extend an arched and groined ceiling. The wainscoting will have all panels in Pavanazzo marble, with red Champlain marble bases, in pleasing contrast to the white.
