To White Bear and Wildwood

Wildwood Bathing Facilities-A Boat Ride to, Lake Shore—White Bear.

You will be pleased after making this trip. White Boar is twelve miles from the Court House. To secure seats. let us go to the starting point on Cedar street, – near Seventh. The cars go every half hour, and if we are ahead of time, we may take a look at a retail grocery store that is not excelled in any city in the country. Standing on the sidewalk, waiting, look up the street, through the vista of trees, and the outlines of our beautiful capitol are before you. Nearing the time for the car, others are arriving, many with transfers from other lines who have realized the difficulty of obtaining tickets after the cars have gone two or three blocks.

The route is on Wabasha to Fifth, to Broadway, to East Seventh to the city limits and then by private way to North St. Paul and to Wildwood. Usually two cars start at the same time. One marked for Stillwater, the other for Wildwood. Both cars go to Wildwood, the stopping point on the lake. The fare to Wi1dwood is 15 cents, which includes transfer at Wildwood for Mahtomedi, a mile further up the lake, or, in the oth er direction, half way towards Lake Shore or White Bear village, requiring another nickel to reach those points. At Wildwood, in the afternoon and evening, in season-able weather there is music and dancing, and other amusements, and first-class bathing facilities, and boats for fishing. A trip by boat from Wildwood to Lake Shore and return is one of the incidents to give real pleasure. The distance between points is five miles, the round trip fare 25 cents.
