A Loring Park Pavilion

The close of the past year terminated the membership on this board of the Hon . Charles M . Loring , known as ” Father of the Minneapolis Park System . ” Mr . Loring has devoted many years of efficient service to the city of Minneapolis in the development of her park system . Upon retiring from the board he has caused to be erected in Loring Park , and donated to the city an imposing and costly pavilion to be used as a public comfort building . In accepting the gift , the fol lowing resolutions of appreciation of Mr . Loring and of his devoted and unselfish work in the interest of the parks of this city were , on motion of Commissioner Folwell , unanimously adopted by the board :

Whereas , Charles M . Loring is about to close his con nection with this board , extending over 20 years ; and ,
Whereas , He has been pleased to celebrate the event by erecting in Loring Park , at the cost of many thou sands of dollars , a tasteful and commodious pavilion for purposes of public comfort :
Resolved , That this board accept this gift , so happily conceived for the public enjoyment , with a deep sense of the generous and loyal spirit which has prompted it .
Resolved , That this board takes this occasion to ex press its appreciation of the long devoted and absolutely unselfish service which Mr . Loring has rendered the city of Minneapolis , begun in 1883 on the first organization of this commission , and not in the least remitted during the short intervals in his term of office .
