A Beautiful Bottleneck

Plan Solves Civic Center Auto Problem Traffic Circles Would Relieve Hennepin ‘Bottle Neck’ Congestion.

Creation of a civic center in the LorIng Park-Parade area as suggested to the City Council by the City Planning commission, Will result in a still greater flow of traffic into the Hennepin-Lyndale “bottle-neck” provision for which is made in plans under consideration by the City Planning committee of the Minneapolis Real Estate board.

The “futurist’ plan for the civic center and solution of the traffic and landscape problems is shown herewith In a drawing prepared by A. L. Morell, landscape architect and city planning expert.

 

The civic center when plans are realized, consist of a broad, level area beautified by Loring Park and elaborate landscape work, and flanked on either side by eminences dotted with handsome public and semi-public buildings, the Pro-cathedral, municipal auditorium, Dunwoody Institute and Armory on one side and St. Mark’s and Hennepin Avenue churches and Public Library on the other side.
