Playing at the Planetarium

This magnificent gold trimmed Public Library, serving as headquarters for Hennepin County and Minneapolis libraries, is located in the Gateway Development area, 300 Nicollet Avenue. The structure is made of granite, Italian marble and anodized aluminum. The library, geared for the comfort of its visitors, features smoking lounges and open shelves, invites browsing and casual research. The library also features a planetarium where regular shows are presented.

The night sky with the moon and planets for any time of the year can be projected on a 40-foot dome by the planetarium of the new Minneapolis Public Library. Two hundred people can be accommodated at each free planetarium show.

The “Moonscape,” in the planetarium of the Minneapolis Public Library, is one of the 60 brilliant panels in the blacklighted gallery of time and space which unfold the story of the universe in vivid fluorescent colors.
